MATERIALS AND SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainable, ethical, eco-friendly
PACKAGING
All my pieces are packaged in recycled cardboard boxes wrapped in recycled kraft paper, sealed with brown paper tape
LEATHER
I use only high quality leather which is a waste by product from the meat industry and operate as close to zero waste as I can, as most of my pieces are made to order and any off cuts are used on smaller pieces or trims wherever possible
These hides would otherwise go to waste unless used to create a product that is both natural and long lasting
If you treat your leather goods with care by nourishing and replenishing the skin, they will get better with use and age, and will last you a lifetime
If you do ever say goodbye to your leather pieces, as they are a natural product, they will degrade over a comparatively short space of time
LINING
The linings I use are sustainable Oeko-Tex certified linen and cotton
CORK
Cork is a natural, vegan, organic textile, which is produced in an ethical, sustainable and eco friendly manner: the company I use to supply my material is PETA approved
Harvesting cork is an ancient method carried out by experts: the bark is stripped from the tree which doesn’t harm it in any way, it actually enhances the trees ability to absorb carbon dioxide: 7 million acres of cork forest in the Mediterranean offsets approximately 20 million tonnes of CO2 each year
The cork bark is then boiled so that the cells expand…no hard chemicals are used in this process
The backing is then added to the cork to give the material its flexibility and durability
Eco friendly dye is used to give the cork it’s beautiful saturated colour
PINATEX
Piñatex is an innovative natural textile made from waste pineapple leaf fibre
The use of this agricultural waste product provides the opportunity to build a scalable commercial industry for developing farming communities, with minimal environmental impact
